We watched the Christmas parade on our first night in town and watched the lighted boat parade on our last night. As for our trip in Key West, that was great also. I cannot say thank you enough and express my gratitude for the professionalism, courtesy and customer service that was provided! Needless to say, we will definitely be staying at the Opal Key Resort again in the future. Without going into details, Jennifer and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed a wonderful resort experience. We endured a few small issues and changed rooms during our stay but the hospitality shown by Jennifer was incredible. The hotel was great and the staff and management were amazing. We enjoyed an excellent stay in December in Key West at the Opal Key Resort & Marina. The free water was the best part of our stay at the Opal. This is after we rec’d a personalized note (2 of them actually) in our room as they clearly had us in their system. Plenty of other places to stay here and will not be staying here again. Pool bartenders and wait staff were great they work hard and took care of our needs and wants. Asked for a hour more at checkout and told no but I had spoken to other guests who received it. Sunset bar which is supposed to close an hour after sunset closed early so didn’t experience that area at all. Told front desk but said nothing they can do. Rented electric vehicle but garage only had 3 spaces to charge and same vehicles were there and never moved. Asked for house keeping one day out of the 3 nights we stayed but it was never done. For 1800 in just room and parking fees I expected to have Ocean view when I paid for it. Our room which we paid for Ocean view literally had a cruise ship parked out front for 2 days so we had zero view but I am sure passengers could see inside our room. This place has a good location but that’s about it. Have been to other Opals in the US our last trip was Clearwater FLa and that was so worth it. I’ve stayed in other places in the Keys and overall, this is one of the best. The staff I encountered always had a smile and an apparent genuine interest in helping guests enjoy their stay. Finally, my experience with the hotel staff was consistently positive during my stay. A fresh, sealed bag with slippers will keep your feet warm and luxurious bathrobes are provided for you during your stay. Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are also provided. I was grateful to find a real bar of soap waiting for me in the shower along with an amenity kit that included a nail file and Q-tips. The hotel room itself was well appointed with attention to comfort details including a Nespresso machine for delicious morning coffee and a mini-fridge to keep your cold waters. But you’ll likely not be in the room during those hours as there is much to do and see in Key West. Note that a cruise ship docks in front of the hotel and will block your views from about 8AM to 6PM (when it departs). The King bed waterfront room had a view of the boardwalk area, the ocean, and Sunset Key. Free waters bottles around the hotel make hydration easy. The food at the hotel restaurant exceeding expectations and the cocktails were delicious. The hotel has a delicious restaurant on the first floor with indoor/outdoor seating options. This waterfront hotel is right next to Mallory Square, steps away from shopping and restaurants, and a short walk to the lively activities on Duval Street.
